If there is a rug gene then Alicia Keshishian comes by it honestly. Granddaughter of the great rug impresario Mark Keshishian her father is Dr. John Keshishian the noted Cardiothoracic Surgeon. Her Uncle Harold and cousin Mark operate Mark Keshishian and Sons the Washington DC area's top rug store.

Alicia is a talented designer and she has known from childhood about wool and color but she is also a Keshishian. Social responsibility is something she takes seriously. When Alicia was putting together her business she became part of RUGMARK

Little fingers don't really weave better rugs, would you let 8 year old children paint your house? Alicia knows that children belong in school and experienced adult weavers are the ones who should weave your rug. Through RUGMARK Alicia helps keep children in Nepal in school.

N.B. The Keshishian family has a long history of social responsibility. Many of you will remember the generosity of Alicia's father and his brothers Jimmy and Harold but it goes back much further than that. Did you know that Alicia's Great Grandfather Garabed Keshishian helped found the orphanage at Hadjin Turkey for the surviving children of Adana after the massacres of 1909. His brother, Alicia's great great uncle Avedis was director of that orphanage. The welfare of children is not something Alicia Keshishian takes lightly.
